We are a group of passionate climbers who have enjoyed the sport so much that we felt the need to make the best centre we could possibly imagine. We are now Essex’s only dedicated bouldering centre. Bouldering is a type of rock climbing where there are no ropes, instead there is 30cm of matting surrounding the climbing area to make landings safer and more comfortable.
At Colchester Climbing Project, we have created unique areas for you to explore, socialise and have fun!
We want to promote climbing as part of a healthy lifestyle. That’s why we strive to stock organic goods as well as all sorts of tasty treats to go along with our amazing coffee.

Climbing for under 16's
The youngest allowed on site is 5 years old, and the rules for each age bracket are shown below:
5-6 YEAR OLDS
1 adult can supervise 1 child in this age group, however they must be checked in as a non-climbing supervisor. This means the adult cannot climb during the session and must always supervise the child. If 2 adults bring 1 child aged 5 or 6 then one of the adults can climb whilst the other supervises.
7-11 YEARS OLD
1 adult can supervise 2 children and the supervising adult cannot climb during the session or 1 adult can supervise 1 child and the supervising adult can climb during the session.
11-15 YEARS OLD
1 adult can supervise 2 children and the supervising adult can climb during the session.
If you are purely supervising and NOT climbing, you do NOT need to pay for entry to the centre.

Colchester Climbing Project is open 7 days a week.
Monday to Friday: 10am – 10pm
Saturday: 10am – 8pm
Sunday: 10am – 8pm

Standard day pass: £11
Consession day pass*: £10
Under 16 day pass: £8
* Concessions include: students, NHS, teachers, OAPs, military & BMC members. Proof required please!
Shoe rental is available at £3 per person.
If you are looking to climb regularly, a membership might be better.
