Lackford Lakes

Escape to the tranquil Lackford Lakes, a Suffolk Wildlife Trust reserve near Bury St Edmunds. This former gravel pit has been transformed into a diverse wetland habitat, attracting a wide range of birds and wildlife. Explore easy walking trails that meander through woodland and around the lakes, leading to numerous bird hides offering excellent viewing opportunities. The visitor centre provides information, refreshments at the cafe, a shop, and toilet facilities. It’s a fantastic place for a peaceful family walk, birdwatching, or simply enjoying nature. Events like pond dipping are often held during school holidays. Entry is free, donations welcomed.
